Working at the USO takes a special kind of person. We approach our work with a deep sense of GRATITUDE and RESPECT for those who serve, as well as the families they often leave behind. When service members walk into a USO, they’ve come to expect a warm greeting, a place to rest, and perhaps a cup of coffee. They’ve come to expect a “home away from home.” It is up to the USO employees and volunteers to ensure this level of comfort and care. Working at the USO takes personal EXCELLENCE, and the underlying ethics and standards to DO THE RIGHT THING for the USO as well as the people we serve.

The USO is committed to providing our troops and their families top quality programs and services, and to being INNOVATIVE in expanding our delivery. To that end, our employees and volunteers must exhibit the professional expertise and knowledge that is expected in a particular position or department. We are driven not simply by personal ACCOUNTABILITY, but also by a COLLABORATIVE dynamic to work together to complement each others’ strengths.

In addition to personal and professional excellence, a USO employee or volunteer must embody heartfelt compassion. On a daily basis, whether you are in a USO center or the USO offices in Arlington, you are working on behalf of every military man and woman. Having a personal connection to the military is not a requirement, but having compassion for their service and sacrifice is. You must embrace MISSION FIRST.
