The Right Fit: The Job For You
• The process begins with you searching for a job opening that interests you by job, department and location. When you identify opportunities of interest and for which you meet the hiring qualifications, you submit a resume or on-line application.
Show Us What You’ve Got: Applying at the USO
• Once you have submitted your resume, the recruiting team will review your resume and cover letter, and contact you based on how well your qualifications match the position for which you have applied. Because of the number of applications we receive for each position, we contact only those who best meet the requirements of the job.
Let’s Chat: Phone interview
• You’ve applied for the desired position and it seems your skills fit the job description. One of our recruitment team will schedule and conduct an initial phone interview to help us assess your personal excellence, professional expertise, and connection to the USO mission. This is also an opportunity for you to begin to assess the USO as a potential employer, and we appreciate your asking the questions that are important to you.
Nice to Meet You: In-person interview
• Based on the outcome of your phone interview, you may be scheduled for the next step in the interview process, which would be a face to face interview with the hiring department. At times, due to distance, the second step may be a phone interview with the hiring department if it is not feasible to connect in person. During the second interview, we further assess your professional expertise and look closely at how well you would be able to perform the position for which you have applied, as well as how you would compliment the existing team in the hiring department.
There are times when we will conduct a panel interview with multiple staff members from the hiring department. Additional interviews may also be scheduled after the second to ensure we have the best fit for the position.
We encourage all applicants to “interview us” as we progress through the interview meetings, and to be prepared to ask thoughtful questions so that you, as an applicant, can make an informed decision about employment with the USO.
Now What? Next Steps:
• Following your interviews, we will make a decision regarding your candidacy for the job opening. We take hiring very seriously with consensus-based decisions that benefit each department, center or location. Your recruiter will keep in touch with you once the decision has been made.
If the decision is made to pursue the opportunity with you, we will move forward with completing a formal background check (which may include different elements based on the position applied for) as well as professional references. Offers are made only following the successful completion of all steps in the interview process.
