

The United States is a nation at war. Thanks to improvements in battlefield medicine and the use of body armor, men and women are surviving wounds that would have been fatal in earlier wars. While they have survived, their severe injuries have turned their lives--and the lives of their families--upside down, sometimes involving many surgeries, years of therapy, and a lifetime of support.
Here at home, support for those who have returned home forever changed
by war remains incomplete. The government provides first-class medical
care for these men and women, but it is up to the nation to provide a
first-class support network to ensure these patriots are given the
opportunity to lead a fulfilling life.

*Through her book QUIET HERO, Rita Cosby has joined the USO to help wounded warriors and their families. Ten percent of book proceeds will go towards Operation Enduring Care.
The USO's $100,000,000 initiative to help those who sacrifice so much move from the battlefield to a full and productive future.
To fund OPERATION ENDURING CARE, the USO will raise $100 million over five-years in a campaign expected to be substantially complete by the end of 2011. Funds are planned to be used as follows:
- $25 million for the design, construction, furnishing and equipping of two new Wounded Warrior Support centers at Bethesda and Ft. Belvoir;
- $25 million to endow these two centers, ensuring they are always properly furnished, equipped, and staffed;
- $50 million to fund the array of programs designed to meet the needs of Wounded Warriors and their families from their arrival off the battlefield to their return to their communities prepared for a happy and fulfilling life ahead.
