Vice President, Entertainment Operations
Rachel M. Tischler joined the United Service Organizations (USO) in 2004. Prior to being promoted to vice president of entertainment operations, she served as director of entertainment. During her tenure, Ms. Tischler increased the USO’s focus on Southwest Asia and stateside entertainment, adding more events than in previous years and doubling the number of service members and their families entertained by USO shows. As vice president, she will continue serving troops and will direct the USO Celebrity Entertainment Program, an initiative that delivers first-class entertainment to U.S. military and their families stationed overseas and stateside.
Before coming to the USO, Ms. Tischler served as a general and company management associate for Broadway’s musical productions of “Gypsy,” “Flower Drum Song,” and “The Lion King,” along with the smash hit, “Mamma Mia!”
Ms. Tischler was also the general manager for Classic Stage Company in New York City, where she produced the world premiere of comedian Steve Martin’s “The Underpants” and “Monster” as well as the New York premiere of composer Phillip Glass’ “In the Penal Colony” and “Room.” Additionally, she served as associate managing director at Yale Repertory Theater; first assistant stage manager at both the Cincinnati Opera and Opera Company of Philadelphia; and production stage manager at South Coast Repertory’s Young Conservatory.
Ms. Tischler holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y.; a Master of Arts degree from the University of Chicago; and a Master of Fine Arts from the Yale University School of Drama in New Haven, Conn.
