Thomas J. Knox

Vice President, Major Gifts and Planned Giving

Thomas J. Knox joined the USO in December of 2008 as the Vice President of Major Gifts and Planned Giving. In this position, his primary responsibility is to help individuals match their passion for our troops with the financial needs of the USO. Through personal meetings with potential donors, a plan is developed leading to an outright gift and/or planned gift that will bring the USO mission and the donor’s passion together. A second but important responsibility is to ensure that proper recognition of these gifts is provided.

Knox brings with him over 20 years of fundraising experience with The Salvation Army and The Humane Society of the United States. At his last assignment with The Salvation Army, he increased major gifts income from $1,300,000 in FY 07-08 to securing $1,400,000 in first quarter alone of FY 08-09.

Knox earned his A.A.S. Criminal Justice from Auburn Community College and his B.A. in Sociology from Oswego State University. He is a current member and the past chapter president for the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
